Not covered Search-only work, appeals, re-filings, partial refusals (credit limited to refused part), payments outside CoCatapult, or filings judged to have very low chance of success (only 50 % credit in such cases).
Important note This is a goodwill credit programme, not insurance. CoCatapult may update or end the programme at any time; cases already enrolled stay protected.

1. What the Cover Is — and Isn’t

It’s a goodwill credit program. We share the risk with you by returning part of the professional fees you paid through CoCatapult.
It’s not insurance. No cash payouts, premiums, or policies—just platform credits you control.
It’s automatic. No extra cost or opt-in fee. If you follow the steps below, you’re protected.

2. How Much Is Covered?

  • 20 % of the professional fees you pay through CoCatapult for one application
  • Maximum credit: ₹10,000 per application number
  • Government/statutory fees, taxes, and out-of-pocket costs are not included

Low-Chance Filings:

If, at the time of filing or transfer, the subject matter was clearly unlikely to register (e.g., known prior art, an already-published design, non-patentable subject matter, refiling of prior application), only 50 % of the usual credit is granted.

4. Simple 4-Step Checklist

5. Using Your Credit

    • Validity: 12 months from the day we issue it. Credits expire after 12 months; any unused balance is forfeited.

    • How to apply: Use the credit for the next payment by reaching out to support at [email protected]—you decide which invoice(s) to offset

    • Limit: Up to 3 future professional-fee invoices (credits can't be used for government & out of pocket fees)

    • No cash value, non-transferable.

6. Key Things to Remember

  • For Indian filings only. Currently it includes only patent, trademark, copyright and design registration processes in India.
  • Credits only—no cash refunds.
  • Credits may be denied or clawed back if we detect fraud, duplicate filings or misrepresentation.
  • Miss the 60-/30-day application-number or claim deadline? The Cover is forfeited / cancelled for that case.
  • In case of partial refusals, credit is limited to the refused portion only.
  • Combining this credit with other CoCatapult discounts or promotions is not possible.
  • Keep every payment and step on CoCatapult to stay protected. If any professional-fee payment for the application is made outside CoCatapult, this Cover ends immediately.
  • We can update or cancel the Cover at any time. Cases already enrolled remain protected under the version in force when they were registered.
  • Disputes? We use Bangalore-based arbitration under Indian law.
